This week Roosevelt University achieved Silver-level recognition under the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Compact Program for Higher Education. Representatives of the university will receive an award on October on Oct. 29th in East Peoria at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center Technical Symposium and the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Awards Ceremony. Governor Pat Quinn will be recognizing the 2013 Governor’s Sustainability Award winners and the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact Schools.
Roosevelt received this distinct honor based on the sustainability initiatives and accomplishments it has undertaken recently, such as those recounted in this blog post from the summer. Special credit goes to Tom Shelton, Transportation/Sustainability Coordinator, and Marybeth Radeck, Sustainability Student Associate based at the Schaumburg Campus, for putting together the comprehensive application to the Governor’s office this fall.
