The SUST program is offering a full slate of courses for the Spring 2013 semester at the Chicago and Schaumburg Campuses as well as online. These classes begin Monday, January 28th — two weeks after the initial start of the spring semester — so there’s plenty of time yet to enroll. Most sections have several seats available, though some are filling quickly!
Several courses are scheduled for the Schaumburg Campus, including a section of SUST 210 The Sustainable Future (Tues 6:30-9:30) taught by Prof. Mike Bryson that will meet bi-weekly and is cross-listed with the online section of 210. This unique arrangement was first used in the spring of 2011, when Schaumburg/online 210 students created the Schaumburg’s Sustainable Future website and blog. In addition, SUST 220 Water is offered in a 4-Saturday/online hybrid format that will include several field trips (like this one from Fall 2011); and SUST 310 Energy & Climate Change is available for the first time at Schaumburg on Thurs evening (6:30-9pm).
At the Chicago Campus, we are offering a daytime section of SUST 210 The Sustainable Future (Mon 11am-1:30pm), a Thurs evening section of SUST 230 Food, and three upper-level courses: SUST 340 Policy, Law, & Ethics (Thurs 2-4:30pm); 350 Service & Sustainability (Wed 3-5:30pm); and 390 Special Topics: Making Buildings Green (Tues 11am-1:30pm). This latter selection is a new course offered by Visiting Instructor Suhail Barot, and you can see a detailed course preview here.
Last but not least are several online offerings, which are always in high demand: the aforementioned SUST 210 The Sustainable Future (cross-listed with the Schaumburg section); SUST 240 Waste; SUST 320 Sprawl, Transportation, & Planning; and SUST 330 Biodiversity.
Advising and registration are still underway for the Spring 2013 semester. Current RU students should contact their advisor to discuss spring (and summer) course selections and sign up for classes while they are still available. This page from the RU Registrar provides a wealth of links and useful info.
Prospective students may learn about admissions and our many program options at RU, request information about a particular campus or academic program here, or visit the SUST homepage to explore our BA (120 semester hour) and BPS (adult student fast-track) bachelors degree options.
